Gene Liu, MD is a board-certified Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon who specializes in the treatment of most general ear, nose and throat disorders and enjoys taking care of patients of all ages.
Dr. Liu participates in the Pediatric Surgical Services and the Craniofacial Clinic taking care of children with complex ENT issues. In addition, he also specializes in 3-D Image Guided Sinus Surgery and the new tissue sparing balloon sinuplasty system. He is also actively involved in the Thyroid Cancer Center with expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr. Liu is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological Society. He has also volunteered his services with Mending Kids International, Cardiac Kids Have H.E.A.R.T. and non-profit organizations that offer free medical and surgical care to children with medical problems that cannot be treated in their home countries. One example: Dr. Liu was acknowledged by the ALO Cultural Foundation for his involvement and work with an 8-year old Lebanese boy, Hussein Balhas.
Dr. Liu obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia with a major in chemistry and earned his M.D. degree and graduated with distinction from the George Washington UniversitySchool of Medicine and Health Sciences.
He completed his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado with significant exposure to pediatric otolaryngology at The Children’s Hospital in Denver.
